The Department of Justice has effectively given the green light for online gambling to start up again with their recent ruling on the Wire Act. Because of their new decision that the Act does not refer to online gambling, across the board many states have now put into play a ton of different gambling schemas that have simply been waiting in the wings. These online casinos have been anticipating this sort of ruling and have been prepping behind the scenes to get their businesses up and running as soon as they got the proverbial go ahead from the government.

There are a ton of states that simply waited in the wings to get started, and we started seeing more and more of the bigger names in the casino industry trying to get into the pot. There was Harrah’s Casino that was first discussing the idea of bringing in an online casino that they would be able to offer their services for free. This however, simply means that they get people to come and play on their site and then when and if the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, or UIGEA, is overturned, they are ready and waiting for it.****

Caesars International has also recently stated that they are working on an online gambling site as well, and that they will be ready for the expansion when it comes.

Shuffle Master is another one of those that has already built their team to move into the online gambling realm in the US and they say that there is going to be a lot of activity coming on board now. They just want to ensure that they are part of that new movement. They think that Nevada is where it is really going to explode with it then moving out from there to other areas of the country. They are among many who are associated with the big casinos that knew that the day of online casino gambling was coming and wanted to be prepared.

It would appear that Nevada and the District of Columbia are in the lead in as far as the steps that they have taken to legalize it within their state. However, many feel that this is more of a country wide thing, with it being available from state to state and not limited to intrastate offerings. The fact of the matter is that it is still moving forward and that is enough for many online casino fans.

Lawyers however, caution against being quite so optimistic. They argue that although the Department of Justice has come out with this ruling, they argue that nothing has actually overturned the UIGEA and nothing that has happened that would actually make internet gambling legal. They say that they fear that players may be jumping the gun when it comes to thinking that they are going to have access to gambling online soon. They say that it is still probably going to be awhile to see what this ruling really means and what sort of real impact it will have on them. They caution that this road is very similar to ones that they have gone down before, and yet there is still no overturning of the UIGEA.

But the states are pushing forward anyway to see how far they can get with their online gaming offerings before the government steps in and shuts them down. They fear that this not far up the road considering no one has actually said that online gambling is legal now. What is interesting is how many states has been kicking around the idea and then seemingly out of nowhere they have full on plans that they are looking to implement to bring gambling online to their state.
